B02: Testing and simulating electroweak interactions in nuclei

Project B02 will provide new insights into quenching of the spin-isospin strength in nuclei common to electromagnetic and weak processes. Transverse electron-scattering form factors of analog states to forbidden ground-state beta decays will be measured with the unique 180° system at the S-DALINAC. Our experiments will provide the transition matrix elements and the momentum-transfer dependence, which will be confronted with theoretical predictions based on chiral effective field theory including two-body currents.
