A04: Strong interactions and structure of medium-mass nuclei

In project A04 we will advance ab initio calculations to medium-mass open-shell nuclei developing and applying the in-medium similarity renormalization group for valence-shell Hamiltonians and extending it to new multi-reference formulations. We will establish a comprehensive theoretical framework to perform calculations of ground states, spectra, and spectroscopy of closed- and open-shell nuclei based on chiral two- and three-nucleon interactions and consistent electroweak one- and two-body currents, with the goal of an ab initio description of all nuclei up to medium mass. This project will support the key experiments with medium-mass nuclei in the CRC.
